It can be hard when a loved one or family member is poorly, whether they are stuck in bed or in hospital and sometimes it can feel like there's not a lot that you can do to help.
Sending a get well soon card, wishing them a full and speedy recovery, as well as talking to them and taking their mind off of things to get them back to their amazing self, is something that everyone will appreciate! Remember to keep a positive attitude, and this will have an impact on them too.
So, if you’ve decided to write a get well card, taken a pen, and you didn’t know what to say, besides “Hope you get well soon dear friend!”, then try thinking about specific wishes that are related only to that special friend of relative. If you’re still stuck on what to write and how to get started, we’ve listed a few pointers for you below to get you on your way.
You can use “Dear” when writing to your parents, loved ones, or close friends. A warm greeting – is a great start for a get well soon message and a great way to send your best wishes. If you want to make it a little less formal you may start it similar to how you would start a text with ‘Hey Paul’ for example.
It’s highly likely that the person whom you are writing this get well card to is getting bored while being ill, or on their hospital stay. There are only so many puzzles you can do and only so long you can lay in bed! It’s a good idea to add some detail to the card so that it takes longer than 1 minute to read. By asking about them you will show that you are interested in how they are and care about how they are feeling. Also, be specific in detail; ask about something that you both have discussed the last time you met.
Write some warm “get well” wishes, so that the person knows that he or she is missed and loved. Warm wishes will always keep the person in a good mood and don’t be afraid to add some love when writing good wishes. The more positive and loving words you write – the better it will make them feel.
Keep the person informed about events, either personal or in the media, that they might have missed. This way he won’t feel as isolated if they are unable to keep u to date with what's going on. Go into some extra detail on what this person is interested in whether it be sport, fashion, business etc..
Why not try adding well messages that will make them smile? It could add some more encouragement to your card. Look for some quotes on the Internet and write them at the start of greeting card or at the ending of your card.
“Remember to just take it one day at a time and in no time, you will be completely healthy and smiling once again”
“You’re in all of our warmest thoughts as you recover from your accident”
“Tough times don’t last, tough people, do.”
“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.”
“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”
“We should not give up and we should not allow the problem to defeat us.”
“Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory.”
“What you do today can improve all of your tomorrows.”
“In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity.”
“This too shall pass.”
“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.”
"Get well soon! We need you back on your feet at work. There’s only so much coffee we can drink in your honor!"
"Wishing you a speedy recovery! In the meantime, enjoy your sick leave—Netflix won't watch itself!"
"Get well soon! If you don’t, we might have to come up with a new office gossip target!"
"Feel better soon! Sorry your sick day is down to actual sickness."
"Sending you healing vibes. Remember, you’re not allowed to enjoy being sick too much!"
"Get well soon! Your plants are starting to realise you're gone and are planning a mutiny."
"I'm so sorry to hear you have to eat hospital food."
"We hope you're not feeling as bad as Hospital food tastes."
"Sending healthy vibes and positive vibes your way!"
